07/08/2008: Plimus Secures $18M In Strategic Funding

Plimus, Inc., a leading independent provider of outsourced e-commerce services, announced today that the company has secured an $18 million financing round. The capital will be used to support the growth of the company as it delivers the widest range of services to an ever-growing base of independent software and digital product vendors who use its services to market and sell their products online.

Susquehanna Growth Equity, LLC (SGE), a private equity firm investing in growth capital and late stage venture companies in the financial technology, information technology, and business services sectors was the sole institutional investor in the round. As part of the financing, Amir Goldman and Jonathan Klahr of SGE will join the board of directors.

"What we found to be unique at Plimus was the extent to which the company listens to its clients. This has allowed Plimus to build a diversified global client base," remarked Jonathan Klahr of SGE. "This funding will enable Plimus to accelerate the release of new services and invest in maintaining its high service levels, driving client satisfaction and meeting the burgeoning demand for outsourced e-commerce services."

Commenting on this round of investment, Hagai Tal, CEO of Plimus, said: "We are thrilled by the confidence SGE has shown in our business and delighted to be able to offer deeper and broader services and support to our clients. We look forward to continuing to deliver outstanding service."

03/19/2008: Plimus Announces Support for Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode

Plimus, Inc., a global e-commerce solutions provider, today announced that it has implemented 3D Secure technology. Encompassing the Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode programs, 3D Secure will protect shoppers against unauthorized use of their Visa and Mastercards. Additionally, Plimus vendors will be protected against fraud, and see a drastic reduction in mistaken refunds and chargebacks.

"Implementing Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode is a continuation of our commitment to secure online transactions," commented Hagai Tal, CEO of Plimus. "These programs have achieved customer critical mass, and now is the right time to implement the program across our e-commerce platform."

3D Secure adds a secondary level of security for Mastercard and Visa credit cards used online. Previously, physical possession of a credit card, as well as knowledge of the credit card holder's personal details, was sufficient to make a purchase. Using 3D Secure, shoppers will additionally provide a password that is stored with their card issuer. This makes it virtually impossible for a Mastercard or Visa credit card to be used fraudulently.

"Credit card fraud remains a concern for vendors and shoppers alike worldwide," said Guy Wilnai, EVP of Business Development at Plimus. "This additional layer of security brings a new level of confidence for shoppers. It also drives down chargebacks and mistaken refunds for vendors, greatly reducing a key business risk."

Verified by Visa and Mastercard Secure Code have become standard offerings in the online world, with some of the world's largest merchants relying upon the programs to decrease fraud. Shoppers quickly recognize transactions as having been personally authorized, and have the confidence that their validation information is kept separate from their credit card details.

3D Secure will be implemented first for customers in the United States, with other regions added over the next few weeks.

"This implementation brings the best of both worlds to all Plimus customers," added Tal Moshayov, VP of Engineering for Plimus. "Cardholders enrolled in Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCode can be confident in the security of their details. And those not yet enrolled can rely on Plimus' experienced Fraud Management team to ensure that their valid transactions will be executed properly."

The Plimus / Uniloc solution allows them to flexibly control the proliferation of their software, permitting each valid serial number to activate a specified number of installations - with the flexibility to reset these limits dynamically, as a product moves through its normal lifecycle.

"Polite software activation is a win-win for digital delivery providers and their customers," said Guy Wilnai, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Plimus. "Accessing it through the secure and scalable Plimus system puts the power of this solution into the hands of any company looking to reap the benefits of softANCHOR."

"Through our partnership with Plimus, Uniloc is extending the boundaries of e-commerce for vendors of digitally delivered products," said Brad Davis, Chief Operating Officer for Uniloc. "Pairing Uniloc softANCHOR with the leading hosted e-commerce system puts advanced software protection into every vendor's toolbox, and profits right back to their bottom line. With Plimus managing fraud protection and hosting the activation and validation server on behalf of their customers, this is a unique opportunity for any software vendor doing business on the Internet to maximize their returns."

Customers using the combined Plimus / Uniloc solution will have the confidence that their software cannot be copied or reverse-engineered and that it is not being obtained fraudulently. The activation / validation server will be hosted by Plimus as part of its service, eliminating capital and maintenance costs for customers. As the Plimus system is hosted, with fees charged only as sales are closed, implementation of the solution is highly cost-effective, placing it well within the reach of all vendors.

"We are delighted to be partnered with an innovative company like Uniloc," concluded Tomer Herzog, CEO of Plimus. "Every vendor is working on eradicating undesired piracy and fraud from their business. By making the softANCHOR solution available within the Plimus system, our two companies are ensuring that nobody is financially excluded from using the technology they need to protect their intellectual property."

Plimus customers have access to an array of license management and IP protection capabilities, and enjoy an extensive suite of e-commerce, sales and marketing tools to help them grow their revenues.
