Plimus Inc., provider of the leading independent outsourced e-business platform, announced new support for e-checks, also known as ACH. As of February 11, 2009, end-customers based in the United States will be able to purchase goods and services from Plimus vendors using just their bank details.

“The growth in popularity of e-checks is extraordinary,” commented Simon Jones, VP of Marketing for Plimus. “As consumers have become accustomed to paying their utility bills and more direct from their checking account, they have started demanding the ability to replicate the experience in one-time purchases. Making this available will increase the appeal of Plimus vendors’ goods, and grow conversion rates across the board.”

E-checks, or ACH, allow a consumer to pay for their goods and services online directly from their checking account, eliminating the need to use credit cards or alternative payment platforms. By paying directly through their bank account, consumers avoid the cost of finance charges, and the need to manage revolving credit card accounts.

“Using a checking account to buy online is smart consumerism,” noted Hagai Tal, CEO of Plimus. “Consumers eliminate any risk to their credit rating, avoid potential finance charges and maintain full control over their finances. We are confident that this will be an extremely well-received upgrade to the Plimus platform.”

The Plimus platform now counts ACH as a core payment method, bolstering an already industry-leading line-up that includes credit cards, purchase orders, wire transfers, local currency bank transfers and more. Additional payment methods are added to the platform as they attain a critical mass of consumer support, and may therefore be counted on to aid Plimus vendors in increasing their sales conversion rates.
