Disc Face Components

A finished disc looks like the example above.

1.    Background Image – custom image to be printed on disc. Feel free to promote your brand, products or trials in your designs. Provide the background image as a separate file.
2.    Reserved Area for Product Information - used to display product titles on disc. The text “And more product inside” is displayed for cases when more than 3 products are ordered on disc.
3.    Reserved Area for Order Information (required) – used to display order number, date and unique Data matrix barcode. These required e elements will be added by the system automatically. DO NOT put any valuable information or graphics in the Reserved Area as they will be overlapped by the required elements. [Note about Data matrix barcode: This barcode image is for the internal use of the CD producer to ensure that CD/DVD products are properly assembled and allows for tracking through their production systems.]
4.    Reserved Area for customer address – used to display customer name and address.
5.    Disc Center Hole. Diameter of the center hole is 22 mm (0.8 inches). Don’t leave the center hole in the resulting image you provide.
6.    Plimus logo – to be printed on disc in this location. Don’t put any important information here. Make sure the background color in this area allows Plimus logo to be visible.

A single design template can be used for multiple contracts.

Custom Disc Face Requirements

Template Requirements
Your design and backround image files much match these requirements:

•    File format: .png, .jpg
•    Size: 2836x2836px (4.727x 4.727 in, 120x120mm in 600 dpi resolution)
•    Color format: RGB (not CMYK)!!!

Please use one of these template files to start with your Disc Face designs (as shown above). You need to download one of the full size files from the following URLs):

IMPORTANT! The templates include mask layers and guides to help you format your graphics with the disc dimensions. Please turn off all mask layers before providing the resulting image.

The disc images must not contain any inappropriate graphics and artwork must not breach any third party copyrights, trade marks or other intellectual property rights.

Tips
For best results avoid putting stripes and text at the edges of your artwork (both inner and outer circles). Printing variations could be up to 1/8 inches or 3mm within the edge area and may result in your stripes looking thinner, uneven or truncated.

Avoid using large areas of solid colors because they tend to emphasize even tiny imperfections of printing.
Whenever possible choose lighter colors for your designs to ensure the best quality of printing.

Using solid blue, green, red and black colors as a background may result in a low image quality and flaws due to these colors’ printing performance.

Provide as Final to Plimus Via Email

You also need to provide a disc background image for print matching the format and size requirements set out above.

The images need to be sent to Plimus by email so that they can be uploaded to the CD Rom production system.

Send your images to Plimus Vendor Support - vendors@plimus.com with all the following information:

1. Email Subject line: Customized CD Design Files and Contract Information
2. Your Vendor ID:
3. All Relevant Contract IDs to be covered by the design

Processing normally takes 2 - 5 work days.

If in future you need to extend the design to additional contracts you will need to contact Vendor Support.
