Step-by-Step Tutorial

Offering your customers the opportunity of purchasing a backup version of a digital product on CD-rom is a welcome option for most of them. It's also a good way for you to make a few additional dollars on a transaction, and in many cases this is enough to cover Plimus' standard transaction fees on the sale.
Adding a CD on Demand offer only takes a minute and is closely related to the Contract Set up and Customer Product Download processes.
Note: It only makes sense to offer a Backup CD if you are selling a digital product (software, games, digital media etc).
The General Product View Shows Which Contracts Include a CD on Demand
The Product view listing your contracts denotes which contracts include a CD on Demand with a check mark. To add the option of a CD-rom to a single contract just click the Add Now link (1) and you will be taken straight to the CD on Demand options screen for that specific contract. This will allow you to set up a Back Up CD for that specific contract.
If you press on the CD on Demand navigation link at the top of the page (2) you will be able to set up a CD on Demand for all contracts relating to that Product.
Let's now click on that link to set up the CD at the Product level.
I. Adding a CD on Demand at the Product Level
(1) The set up display relates to all Contracts listed under the named Product.
(2) Check the box to offer the CD on Demand option. The basic charge is $7.95 plus $1.95 postage and packing ($9.90).
(3) You can set an additional surcharge which goes to you. We suggest around $2. You may be able to charge more for expensive or enterprise software. This surcharge is added onto the basic charge to the customer.
(4) You can instead elect to absorb the basic CD charge instead of having paid by the customer. This will result in the customer getting the back up free of charge and you will bear the basic charge.
(5) Registration file name lets you add a file containing the license serial number to the CD where applicable. You must make sure that the file has already been uploaded to Plimus.
(6) Press Submit to save your options.
Add the Relevant File to Be Included on the CD
Next you need to add the relevant file to be included on the CD.
The maximum file size is 500 MB, and the file can be zipped if you want to include a group of files for read me files, license information, as well as demos of other programs. The file name must not include any blank spaces. The dialog includes a check box option to have the file unzipped before burning.
(1) You may upload a file from your PC or (2) upload a file from the web - which is ideal for larger files, or (3) Select a file that has already been uploaded to Plimus.
(4) Press Upload
If your file size exceeds the maximum limits please contact Vendor Support and they will assist you.
File is Uploaded
Upload time depends on the size of your file and you will be notified on screen when the upload or file section is complete.
You may change or update the file at any time.
Once you have set up a CD on Demand at the Product level you can always override these options by setting it up at Contract level. You would do this where for instance you wanted to supply a specific file for that individual contract.
Let's now review that process as well.
II: Setting Up a CD on Demand - at the Contract Level
Click on the relevant contract name to open the Contract set up page, and then click on the CD on Demand navigation link at the top of the page under Related Files/URLs. The screenshot below shows the CD on Demand set up page for the Home Edition contract.
Note: This set up page just refers to one contract - Home version.
Check the box to offer a CD on Demand.
This will open up the additional options shown below.
Add Surcharge or Absorb Costs
You may add a Surcharge and refer to a Registration File.
If you want to provide that CD at your own cost use the pull down menu for this option to Absorb CD costs.
Click Submit to save your settings.
The Upload File dialog will now open.

You can amend or update the file upload as you require.
